Art Session

Expected Group: 5-10 young people

This is our monthly Art Session - usually 11am-2pm on the third Saturday of every month.

Session Plan

• 11am: Meet in the foyer (near the glass lifts, just through the shop)

• 11-12pm: Gallery Tour (led by a member of Manchester Art Gallery)

• 12pm: Lunch Break

• 12.15pm-2pm: Instructed Art Session

• 2pm: Home Time

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 3-4

Key volunteer responsibilities:

• During the gallery tour:

  • The tour typically splits into two groups: discussing the artworks (their themes, etc) and more generally exploring the gallery

  • Kate (creative director) will lead discussion group, and we can then split up with smaller groups to explore the gallery.

  • You will have ‘challenge sheets’ you can give young people too, to make things more fun!

  • Basically - keep an eye on young people while exploring, make sure no one wanders off etc!

• During the art session:

  • We’ll probably break into two or three tables, a few people on each

  • Please join a table and help young people understand the instruction and know what to do

  • Please also help keep the chat going, break the ice with some discussion prompts (we can provide some if helpful)
